What Are Level 2 & Bidirectional Charging?

Before we talk about your installation, here’s a quick primer on the two EV charging technologies Qmerit can install for you.

Level 2 EV Charging

The Ultium Home Powershift Charger Is A Level 2 EV Charging Station.

Level 2 is the fastest and most powerful home charging technology available, so it’s also the most convenient. A Level 2 charging station can usually recharge your EV while you sleep so you can wake up ready to hit the road.

Bidirectional EV Charging

The Ultium Home V2H (Vehicle To Home) Bundle Is A Bidirectional Charging System.

With this innovative technology, you can not only charge your EV with your PowerShift Charger—your EV can also power your home. If there’s a power outage, your EV can keep your home running for up to 21 days* with the V2H Bundle!

Ultium Home Powershift Charger

  • Qmerit installs your PowerShift Charger.
  • Charge your EV quickly and conveniently in the comfort of your own home.
What’s Included In My Installation?
  • Main panel load calculation to assess available capacity1
  • Installation of your PowerShift Charger
  • Permitting and inspection fees (Where required, additional fees apply and will be added to final quote.)2
  • Create and submit permit documents (as required by local jurisdiction)
  • Provide and install code-compliant electrical wiring and protective tubing
  • Provide and install a new, properly sized breaker in panel
  • Power up your charging unit and test for proper operation
  • 1-Year warranty on parts and labor

1 Qmerit can upgrade your panel to provide sufficient capacity for EV charging and future-proof your home to accommodate additional electrification technologies down the road.

2 Customer remains responsible for (a) payment of all applicable fees related to required permits, and (b) confirming the installer has applied for and been issued all necessary permits.

What’s Not Included In My Installation?
  • PowerShift Charger – This will need to be purchased by you ahead of your scheduled installation. (Need a charger? Shop the GM Energy site.)
  • Drywall, stucco, plaster, concrete or any other repairs to walls, ceilings or floors if penetration is required for wiring runs
  • Any trenching required if your garage is detached

Ultium Home V2H Bundle

  • Qmerit installs your PowerShift Charger and V2H hub, inverter and dark start battery.
  • Charge your EV quickly and conveniently in the comfort of your own home.
  • Charger can send energy from your EV to your home to help keep the lights on for up to 21 days* in a power outage.
What’s Included In My Installation?
  • Main panel load calculation to assess available capacity1
  • Installation of customer-supplied inverter, mid (transfer switch), dark start battery, and PowerShift charger
  • Provide and install a backup load center
  • Installation of AC power from the mid to the backup sub-panel
  • Relocate home’s critical circuits to the backup sub-panel
  • Installation of AC power from backup sub-panel to inverter
  • Connect dark start battery to inverter
  • Installation of AC circuit from the main panel to charger of up to 80 amps
  • Installation of DC circuit from charger to inverter
  • Installation of all control wires needed for complete system
  • Complete system commissioning
  • City permits and meeting with AHJ inspector, if required 2
  • Interconnection agreement with local utility department, if required
